And onto Saturday Night on baord the docked Belle....
Over the years the Expos have hosted 'march throughs' by various pipe bands. Everyone loves the bands but we all admit that they can be a bit raucous and overwhelming in an enclosed setting..after all, they were created to be played out over the Highlands or out on the battlefields of the great northern expanses!!
So--here is our solution : A TOP DECK, OPEN AIR CONCERT with the internationally acclaimed Bushmill's Pipe and Drum Band. A full 30 minutes of this amazing group will regale you with their talent and exhilarating renditions of Scotland's uplifting and ancient music of the mountains and dales.

Two huge decks filled with the world's great single malts, bourbons, Irish whiskey and more! All booths are staffed by knowledgeable brand ambassadors and/or master distillers. Unlimited tasting and education are the highlight of this festive evening.
A sumputuous dinner buffet, live Celtic music, a Pipe and Drum Concert AND Artisanal Mixology Seminars on the top deck, spirits lifestyle features and new and numerous booths of Celtic arts and wares, vintage barware and Scottish/Irish foods and the incredible atmosphere of the docked San Francisco Belle, add to the magic and excitement of the evening.
Our top deck allows us once again to host the Whisky and Cigar experiences. The Belle gives us enough room to stretch out and relax despite the large number of attendees at the show.
Take a break with your favorite dram as the sun sets over the Bay. Spectacular views, plenty of fresh air and seating and the romance of the sea add endlessly to an already great night.

As in years past we will be bringing a wonderful range of handcrafted foods, artisanal cheeses and more for your pairing pleasure! The focus on food and whisky is unique to the Expo and began back in 2000 when the Expo was the first show to ever pair up fine whiskies and fine chocolate. Now we continue the culinary experience with a variey of fine foods and the talented people who create them at the 2009 Expo. Visit the pouring booths for your favorite drams then stroll the tasting halls and pair your whiskies with these handcrafted foods of interest. You'll be amazed at how variable the pairings can be and what a great new range of whisky expreiences you'll enjoy when you bring fine foods into the mix!

to help you have a great Expo with no distress the day after.
So here it is, modified a bit from year to year, but with the same basics. So take a quick stop at you local natural foods shop supplement section and get started on this regimen a couple days before the show for best results. Here’s your shopping list:
Ginger capsules
Milk Thistle Capsules
Ginko Bilboa tabs
Mint Tea bags (no caffeine)
Tumeric capsules
Number one: STAY HYDRATED. Start drinking at least 6- 16 ounce bottles of water a day 2-3 days before the Expo and keep this up right through the 2nd day after the show. Yes you’ll practically float away, but you’ll feel great!
At the Expo, be sure you are drinking at least double the amount of water as spirits. Triple is even better. Our generous water sponsor, Evian, will be at the show with an abundance of bottled water. Stop at their booth in the middle of the ballroom as soon as you go into the show and keep a bottle of water with you—and keep drinking!-all night long.
THE DAY BEFORE THE EXPO: take 3 Milk Thistle caps morning and evening and one Ginko. Try not to eat too many sweets or fatty stuff and keep drinking water. Take a good hard 30 minute walk or run and get plenty of sleep. If you are attending the Whisky Dinner or the Dram Club gathering or have plans to start your own Expo a day early…begin the regimen below on Friday rather than Saturday.
Morning of the Expo, 3 Milk Thistle caps, one Tumeric and 2 Ginko tabs. Lots of water and a good period of exercise and fresh air. Just before the show-some mint tea and a ginger capsule.
Be sure to eat before the show even if you plan on attacking the buffet in force!! The buffet won’t open until 6pm and you should not put any alcohol into your body on an empty stomach.
Drink water aggressively all through the evening and keep some food on your stomach at all times.
LATE AT NIGHT, AFTER THE SHOW , take 3 Milk Thistle, 2 Ginko tabs, one Tumeric, one Ginger cap and drink a big warm mug of mint tea before bed. DO NOT take ibuprophen or aspirin.
Repeat in the morning and go out for a hard walk or a run no matter how tired you are. Then have a good breakfast with plenty of protein and water and a minimum of caffeine. Fresh fruit is a big plus too.
Take a nap Sunday afternoon and just relax!!! If you can schedule in a good massage to clear your body of toxins, do so—treat yourself! There’s an amazing spa at the Palace. Stay especially
well hydrated over the next few days and savor your memories of the Expo while looking forward to the Independent Spirits Fest coming in October.
Cheers!
